  1. Microsoft Corporation has begun to cut nearly 3% of its global workforce, its largest mass layoff in more than two years.

    The technology giant, which has a stock market value of $3.3 trillion, did not disclose the total number losing their jobs but it is expected to be about 6,000 people.

    Microsoft, which is led by Satya Nadella, employed 228,000 full-time workers as of last June, the last time it reported its annual headcount. About 55 per cent of those workers were in the United States.

    The redundancies are expected to affect all parts of Microsoft’s business, including LinkedIn, the professional networking site, and Xbox, the video game platform
