What has Elon Musk’s Doge actually achieved? Six months after the so-called Department of Government Efficiency was unveiled, it yet has to find a fraction of the hoped for savings

  1. Right idea.
    Broad support.
    Exaggerated claims.
    Terrible marketing.
    Sloppy execution.

Even the initial concerns about its potential impact on jobs market, economic growth etc turned out to be nothing burger.

  2. He achieved contracts for himself and getting rid of people that were coming for him while fucking idiots cheered him on.

  3. The biggest accomplishment of DOGE has been demonstrating that there is surprisingly little waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government. We all just assumed the government was entirely inefficient, and it turns out it has been operating efficiently all along.

Most of what Elmo and his hackers have identified as waste, fraud and abuse involved programs that Elmo and trump personally don’t like. That’s not waste; that’s governmental priorities, and priorities should be determined by Congress, not an unaccountable, chainsaw waving loon.

  4. Big ol’ data heist right in everyone’s face. Not to mention the backdoors and shit they must have installed in our systems.

I think America is like when an anime character gets cut in half by a sword but hasn’t split in two yet. We’re standing up, we may even be saying some witty line to our foe. But you can see a blood line starting and *any* second now we’ll slide apart.

  5. Why do you think Trump had Elon come in and do it? If he thought it was going to be successful, he’d be a stupid person not to take credit for it from the get go. No, he always knew that Doge wouldn’t be particularly successful at cutting cost, so he got an untouchable lightning rod to do it.

  6. I believe they initially claimed they would find $2 trillion in savings then dropped it to $1 trillion, $0.5 billion and last I heard $150 million.

Their entire debacle of firing essential workers and hiring them back on higher wages as contractors together with all the disruption has likely cost far more than any savings they’ve delivered.

  7. Has any fraud charges been charged? I keep hearing republicans give these examples but can’t find anything.

  8. Social security data is a know know if I don’t know where my own lifes data is going can’t have it.

  9. Lolll do people still actually believe in this scam? It was never about saving, it’s about dismantling social safety nets, and route those funds to his companies.

  10. it’s not about saving money, increasing efficiency, or finding fraud. it’s about gutting federal employees and replacing them with people loyal to DJT, that’s it.

  11. According to 60 minutes the biggest fraud is carried out overseas.

  12. Pretty sure Leon was able to stall or completely get rid of anything that was investigating or regulating any of his companies. That was the goal, not to save money.

  13. They efficiently targeted waste, fraud, and abuse of any agencies that were actively investigating Elon’s interests. All the investigations are closed now, saving the American taxpayer from being protected from corporate corruption, and you really can’t put a price on that kind of thing, can you?

  14. Meanwhile, systems are gutted, workers fired, departments liquidated yet this crime spree of a government has spent more than $200 billion more in his first 100 days compared to the same time period last year.

We see the overt grift like the Qatari plane and the Bitcoin bribery, but where’s the government money going?

  15. don’t listen what they say, watch what the do. They said DOGE is for savings, it’s not, it was for gutting anything that would stop Musk and Trump from making money.

  16. The World’s richest man is killing the World’s poorest people. I hope he’s proud.

  17. Right!!!! They’ve fucking spent more than they’ve saved, so what was the point?!

  18. It’s achieved its mission of making federal employees miserable and firing a bunch. Source spouse of fed employee. If anything I bet it’s cost the government money.

  19. And give contracts to musk while breaking the functional effectiveness of the government.

  20. We already had a DOGE.. they were called inspectors general, auditors and forensic accountants. But DOGE fired all of them, because DOGE really isn’t about finding “fraud”… They’re just henchmen for programs the president doesn’t personally like.

They cancelled any “DEI” contracts that were ironically competing with Elon’s companies, but more importantly, in the name of “efficiency”, they also fired anyone that was working on the investigations into OSHA and a slurry of other violations Elon’s companies were in trouble with. He just personally made his problems go away.

  21. Oh it was probably really succesfull in getting what they wanted. Not cost savings ofc

  22. DOGE provides political cover for the government to spend at the same level with less revenue and larger deficits. There was so much news about the radical cuts that a good third of Americans are now convinced that budgets are balanced.

As usual, just PR and IMO pretty successful. Republicans shouldn’t be able to run as the anti deficit party when they plan to increase deficits every year but these stunts really resonate with the public.
