I'm home alone this weekend so have decided to make the most of the sun by getting the train to Kings Cross and then walking back. I'm planning this so I hopefully don't just wait my weekend sat on the PS5.
So with the attached image – What shall I do along the way? It'll be an early start Saturday so I'm thinking somewhere good for coffee around Camdem. Maybe a snack around Marylebone. Lunch around Chelsea? (Probably just a pint tbf), and a pint around Battersea or Clapham.
Plus any cool little spots that you might otherwise miss if you weren't on a pointless four hour walk.
Thanks! And mods, don't you dare!!! 😭

The brewery at Battersea Power Station is a nice stop (in the arches) and they are doing lovely Manna burgers near it as well.
Deffo recommend a sandwich at Paul rothes in Marylebone! Family run sandwich shop that’s been around for 100 years+, old world charm and great sandwiches.
Look out for Zoo animals!
Why walk along roads when you could walk through parks or along the river for part of the way? (Appreciate you hit Regents and Hyde park, but I reckon you could hit a few more – Brockwell at least)
I used to regularly walk home from work in Oxford st to Clapham during nice weather
Maybe opt for the long way round to get home from Clapham Common onwards. Not very nice walking along the south circular.
You can do part of [the Wandle trail](https://www.sustrans.org.uk/find-a-route-on-the-national-cycle-network/wandle-trail/) and [section 5 of the capital ring](https://innerlondonramblers.org.uk/ideasforwalks/capital-ring-guides.html).
Or maybe visit Hayman’s gin distillery in Balham for a drink when you’re almost at the finish?
Hope you stopped for a mega pint with your mega walk
I’d say next to Camden Road Overground Station there’s a small place called Mama Pollo, good burgers man, simple but there’s something in the fillet coating that gets you stumped
I would just game lol
I’ve done from Camden to Stratford before, I love those long walks.
But I daren’t stop, as I don’t think I’d restart!
Good looking walk except the last 2 miles or so is really fairly grim , then you stop just as it starts getting nice again. I’d suggest adding a stroll through Dulwich Park or Bel Air Park into Dulwich Village . Maybe an extra 1 mile or so but in lovely surroundings and a pint in Dulwich Village to end?
Definitely echo the others, take the smaller roads! This will be miserable walking along roads heaving with traffic. Inspirational post though, great idea.
London Box Sash Windows Ltd. is certainly my favourite place in South London.
damn 😀
Morley’s for some chicken
As you’re passing by Battersea Park , the Pear Tree Cafe in the park could be a good place to have a rest stop. I’d also consider diverting a little and taking a stroll around the Serpentine in Hyde Park.
For a great coffee in camden: [https://maps.app.goo.gl/yJdT9SpwSTqW5xvt8](https://maps.app.goo.gl/yJdT9SpwSTqW5xvt8) Stasis is brilliant. Used to go here a lot when I lived in N.London.
If you didn’t have a sandwhich at Paul rothes in Marlybone (This place is a great suggestion) then you should hit up Delizie D’italia in Pimlico – again, for a PHENOMINAL sandwhich at an old school italian deli [https://maps.app.goo.gl/YFWeQPFKfM5jguGt5](https://maps.app.goo.gl/YFWeQPFKfM5jguGt5)
Slight detour needed during these sunny times.
Nardulli Gelateria @ 29 The Pavement, London SW4 0JE
Best gelato in the area.
I’d recommend instead of continuing South, head East along the river after Battersea park. It’s lovely route that takes you past the national theatre, tate modern and lots of other landmarks, as well has great views. You could even carry on until Tower Bridge if the blisters aren’t hurting too much!
If you wouldn’t mind a mild detour through Westminster, there’s a cafe called the Onion Garden which is utterly lovely. It’s run by this really nice guy passionate about making a grey corner of Westminster into a place covered in green and plants, and the coffee is decent too (in my opinion). Well worth a visit and a lovely quiet green bubble in the middle of the grey Westminster hubbub
Edit: Misspelled grey
Reroute through brockwell park, Brixton up to Vauxhall. Take the south side of the river path to Westminster bridge, much nicer route in my opinion
A slight detour at Battersea park will take you past Mondo brewery which has a great selection in their taproom. Worthwhile checking opening times and if it aligns with your schedule.
Distortion brewery is at Wandsworth Road overground and also worth a visit
From Kings Cross, you could also come back slightly more centrally and go past landmarks like Saint Pauls, then over towards the Tate modern and along the south bank?
If you go down through Hyde Park then Knightsbridge then Peter Jones around Sloane Square would be a good stop. Over the bridge through Battersea park which would be worth a lap and there’s the Zoo. Or around Battersea Power Station can be alright.
In terms of coffee quality alone, there aren’t many top end places around Camden. The best I can think of is Camden Coffee Roastery, they roast their own beans and stand out among a crowd of mediocre shops and cafes. I’d recommend getting a takeaway from there and wandering along the canal (which looks part of your plan already).
You must have the knees of steel or maybe I am just outta shape 😂
What’s this? No romance with walking the route in the shape of a heart or >!penis!<?
How far is this walk? Would this be nicer: https://footways.london/the-green-link
i hope you stopped for some pints along the way
Tasty inn for a lunch at Baker street
As a slight curve ball I’d walk east through green park and St James park then walk around the river (either bank) then stop on south Lambeth Road for a beer in little Portugal. You could even then go down through Brixton to Brockwell and then home from there?
Quite a big change but everything on your walk after Battersea isn’t great
Wtf lol well done
I’d recommend Dulwich Park too and possibly Brockwell Park on the way or at the very least checking out Herne Hill as you end your journey near there. Some nice places to grab a drink, Bullfinch Brewery is a personal favourite of mine.
Grab a beer from shepherds on Regent’s Park road and take it to Primrose Hill if it’s sunny. Will likely be quite busy but it’s a fun atmosphere and lovely view
Have a pint at the pear tree inside Clapham Common!
Try and prioritise walking the canals! Our canals should be cherished and appreciated!
I’m really glad you took the opportunity to do this! Just in case you fancied doing something each month……
I’m not affiliated with but I have joined the [Overground](https://www.instagram.com/over_____ground?igsh=MWI3dnR0eGtydjhsNA==) walking group. Every month a different walk, gets you out of London, and socialising with some lovely people. Everyone is there for the same reason and the walks are stunning.
All organised and free! Just bring a packed lunch and your good self!
Stop outside the Chess and Bridge shop on Baker Street for a game of chess with a stranger.
Let’s detox til we’ve got mega cocks
The dog and fox pub which is a small detour away from Sloane Square station is one of my favourites!
