Useless statistic. It should be per km road, not per square km.
Belgium has one of the highest road densities in the World. Radars are placed along the roads…
So that’s where the “tax de circulation” is going –
Wish they spent more time fixing the roads instead.
As french working in Belgium, I can confirm this is crazy.. also you don’t even know if you get caught or not.
i’d love to see statistics on flanders/wallonia, we’d skyrocket in that chart if flanders was a sperate data input.
Why Belgium always champion in every shity low to make people more miserable wtf.!!!?
Good. Fuck cars.
Good. Fuck cars.
They could double or triple these it wouldn’t change anything for me. For those who think otherwise; maybe just stick to the agreed-upon rules which was a requirement to get your license to drive a several tonnes explosion generator?
When it comes to driving there are far too many maniacs on the road. Just take a walk and see how many people are willing to stop at a pedestrian crossing to let you cross, or heck, drive around a bit. Right of way? Right of the fastest! Overtaking a cyclist? Oncoming traffic will move aside, no biggie! Or heck just do it in a turn with no clear line of sight, yolo!
I’ve been driving for years now, part of my job, thousands of kilometers per year, never had to pay a fine despite passing by multiple radar systems on routes I otherwise never drive on. It’s not hard.
Honestly would like one in my street, 50km/h is not a suggestion…
This seems to include *any* type of radar. The vast majority of radars in Belgium are just counting vehicles for traffic densities or signaling that a vehicle is approaching. Those speed displays? Also a radar.
Bit of a useless statistic when the majority are totally harmless.
Eh doesn’t matter as all of their locations are known and the ones doing the most catching are the mobile ones and those are more prevalent in other countries
Here’s a hint to the Belgian road administration: they would be more effective if you wouldn’t publish their locations beforehand so that drivers would just slow down before them, just to speed up again afterwards…
I hope my dad doesn’t see this. He will not shut up about it for years.
That number says nothing. We have a very high road density and population density. You should compare the number of radar traps with the number of daily kilometers driven in total.
BELGIUM IS NUMBER ONE
and how many work
Of only belgium had the capacity to actually follow through on prosecuting speeders
Speed radars do not make the roads more safer they simply extort the poor, while the richer people can continue breaking speeding laws!!
To be honest, it’s a very more conduced country
Was in Belgium in last fall. Rented a car. Had to be in that hellhole of anti-planning called Brussels.
Got flashes because for some reason it’s reasonable to restrict speed to 30kph instead of ensuring that there is a separation of local and passing traffic.
Anyway, rental company tells me they need to forward my address. I check the address.
It’s wrong. But somehow I don’t feel compelled to correct them.
Suck it fucking cameras.
Is coyote worth it by the way? Or juste waze is the same?
They put up way to much speed radars. Some of which don’t even matter. For example: I live near a road with 4 or 5 trajectory speed control cameras. A lot of people that live in the neighbourhood (and that like driving fast) just take other roads, where there are no cameras. So if you’re the only one that doesn’t like to take a detour, you’re stuck with people coming from little roads and driving really fast (because then they only have to drive past one pole, so their speed is not registered). People will always find a way to “break” or “find loopholes” in the rules and drive too fast.
Also which idiot lets them put those trajectory speed control poles at a stoplight? The times that you stand still at the stoplight is not taken into account.
Btw a lot has to do with politics. I still remember which party wanted all those trajectory speed control cameras in my province. Thanks NV-A 🙃.
Netherlands under Belgium? That’s impossible
Sweden is supposed to be a fair comparison here with large parts of their country barely having roads?
Seriously?
And yet people still speed like crazy over here. Either the fines are not high enough, or there’s still not enough radars.
Some politicians are close friends with the top management of Trafiroad… Whether these cameras have any positive effect or not, doesn’t quite matter.

Angery belgian noises
With the majority of them not working probably
