Police are urging witnesses to come forward after a deadly daytime shooting in Mississauga.

One man is dead after a shooting in Mississauga on Wednesday.

It happened in the area of Tranmere Drive and Telford Way, near Dixon and Derry roads, shortly before noon.

Peel police said officers located a man in his 40s with obvious signs of trauma.

Despite life-saving measures, the victim died at the hospital, police said.

The homicide unit has taken over the investigation.

Police have not released any information on possible suspects.

When asked about the circumstances that led to the incident and whether it was a drive-by shooting, Peel police spokesperson Const. Michelle Stafford said they do not have that information, as the investigation is in its early stages.

“We are canvassing for any video footage, appealing to the public for any witnesses to come forward and speak with our homicide bureau so that we can gain more information on the circumstances,” Stafford said.

She added that the incident was concerning given that it happened during a busy time of day.

“At this point, we believe this to be an isolated incident, and there’s no threat to public safety,” Stafford said.
