  1. I assume this is MAGI, since with STD deduction someone making $15K gross would not have to pay tax. So a person making $30K a year, will have a $15K std deduction and would pay an additional $900 in tax.

  2. The GOP is gambling that the “low information” voters on whom they rely won’t notice the tax increase, or if they notice they won’t care enough to vote, and if they do vote they’ll be easy to convince that the Dems are just as bad.

    This really is a test for those voters — how badly are you going to let the Republicans screw you before you do something about it?

  3. If you earn 15k, you are paying basically 0 in taxes. So if you are suddenly forced to pay 100 in taxes, you can claim that it is an infinity percent increase in taxes.

  4. If your tax increase from 1% to 2% your tax rate increased 100%!!!!!
