Extreme high temperatures are approaching across our country. Texas is expected to hit 110°F, and wildfires in Arizona continue to spread. After everything we’ve already faced with the fires in LA, it feels like enough is enough. What’s really happening with our environment?

    I’m gauging what kind of answer you’re expecting based on the editorialized headline; I can’t tell if you’re feigning ignorance, or just legitimately don’t have a clue

  3. Feedback loops are here to stay until all contributing factors reach a new balance – not net for net effect (equals), but a balance that has a small shift back and forth that doesn’t create huge swings one way or the other

  4. Portions of the Middle East are regularly experiencing wet bulb temperatures above 35° C. That’s the temperature/humidity combination at which evaporation cannot happen and therefore humans aren’t able to shed heat through the evaporative process.

If you are writing from the U.S., I think the issue you may be facing is the fact that the overwhelming majority of climate related news is understandably tailored to each media market’s home national and regional audiences. My suggestion is to widen your media sources on the effects of climate change.

    The U.S. has its share of climate and weather disasters, but I would argue that a significant number of other countries are being hit by effects at least as bad as in the U.S. For example, every country from the Middle East to South Asia has been experiencing increasingly frequent and longer lasting extreme heat. Nations as disparate as Canada at one end and Spain, Portugal, and Greece at another, are all experiencing fraught wildfire futures similar to the U.S. Many tropical island nations seem to be hit by increasingly active hurricane/cyclone seasons. Some are even likely to largely disappear due to sea level rise. Now that is a harsh outcome!

  9. Our Earth is sick and has a fever trying to kill off the virus. It will only get higher/hotter/worse until the viral load reduces enough that the planet can be healthy again.
