Hei r/Finland!
After living in Kuopio for some time, my husband and I finally decided to celebrate our anniversary at the rotating Puijo Tower Restaurant. I'd been saving this experience for a special occasion, and wanted to share some insights that might help others considering a visit.
Some highlights from our experience:
- The restaurant completes a full rotation in about 60 minutes, giving you 360° views of Kuopio's incredible lake landscape (though be warned if you're motion-sensitive!)
- Tower admission is included with your restaurant reservation, saving you the separate observation deck ticket
- Weekend "Local Delights" buffet (29€) features regional specialties – the mushroom pâté was amazing
- The three-course menu (49€) includes the buffet plus a main and dessert
- The observation deck closes at 6pm, so go there first if you have an evening reservation
Is It Worth the Price?
Yes, it absolutely is. Despite the price being on the higher end, the stunning views, the quality of the food, and the unique dining experience make it well worth it, especially for special celebrations!
For getting there: Bus lines 5, 6, 7, and 9 all go to "Puijon Tuolihissi P" stop (6 min walk to tower), or it's about 10-15 minutes by car from city center with free parking available.
If you're sensitive to motion like I am, you might want to consider the non-rotating café on the fourth floor instead, which offers similar views without the movement.
Has anyone else celebrated a special occasion there? Did you find it worth the price? We're already planning our next visit during midsummer to experience those magical midnight views.
Edit: Thank you all for the wonderful replies! Some of you have shown interest in my more detailed write-up of the experience, so I’m adding a link here. Kiitos paljon! 😃

I haven’t been in the rotating restaurant but been in the tower three times, during different times of the year. The view is amazing and I would recommend the Pujio Tower to anyone that visits Kuopio.

Kuopio native here. Considering you need to drive up to Puijo, you would get extremely sick in the car already with that sensitivity.
As added bonus though: On other side of Puijo there are locally well known stairs that people use to exercise. The stairs are quite challenging physically for beginners as the climb is steep.
I didn’t really see a proper answer to your question in the headline. Is it worth it?
Never even thought about going to eat there but now i’m thinking about it..
I would be interested in a more detailed write-up of the experience.
Kiitos!
I’ve had a great experience both times we visited for dinner/celebration. Recommended 👍
Warning, don’t leave anything (E.g., purse) on the window ledge as the floor rotates separate from the walls and your possessions will come back to meet you after an hour (hopefully 😁). This is different from the tower in Tampere where the floor and walls rotate together.
Tower restaurant is great and also Puijon Maja at the base of tower has great lunch.
