One of the most heroic Irish men ever imo
There is an amazing one man show called Tom Crean Arctic Explorer. Normally does a tour every 3/4 years, I highly recommend it. The actor is amazing for bringing you along on this man’s incredible life.
They were amazing men. Their ordeal was harrowing . They were ridiculed for going as the ww1 had started. Shackleton was a great leader. I was slightly obsessed with them for a while.

Just read Michael Smith’s ‘Unsung Hero’. Tom Crean has been a hero of mine ever since I heard about him 15 years ago, been to the museum and the pub but that book is fantastic. Really shines a light on heroic exploits that otherwise would have fallen into the abyss of history!
Cannot recommend enough the book ‘An Unsung Hero’ by Michael Smith. About Crean’s life and an amazing account on the expeditions in general. Still my favourite non fiction book I’ve ever read. Truly unbelievably what Crean and them men went through.
