  1. Of course Rishi Sunak has a strategy. It is the strategy of becoming Prime Minister. Which also has the outcome of handing the economic catastrophe to someone else.

  2. Oh god when David Davis is saying your plan is bad and you have no idea… you know you are in trouble.

  3. You’d think increasing the disposable income of your population would be goal number one coming out of the pandemic?

Instead we’ve got a 5p cut to fuel duty, not even a reduction in tax which would help it keep up with rising costs

  4. Tories don’t know how to help the economy, only help themselves. Tory beliefs and morals stand in the way. Their ideology makes them eat themselves if they try to do good things for the country. Rishi is a caricature of what’s wrong with them, he’s little more than Mogg but has higher ambitions to stroke his ego and is buying his way there.

  5. David Davis. There’s no downsides to Brexit, only upsides. The same guy?

I’m no fan of the Tories. Sunak or Osborn, they are made from the same cloth. Sajid had a backbone. But how to take David Davis seriously after the Brexit debacles?

  6. Sunak making the economy worse is nothing surprising. He’s evil and nowhere near as smart as his media chums pretend he is.

    Bu what is this about:

“amid new fears poorest will miss out on council tax rebate”?

  7. The government can’t solve everyones problems at the expense of hard-working folk UK his not socialist. I’d like to see all the whingers do a better job at running the country. Don’t complain just do it! Do a better job than the chacnewllor!!!! Criticising is easy why don’t you run the country better your self?

  8. No strategy for the average person. He has a great strategy for those looking to make money off the average person or who wants to make money from freeports and other tax avoidance measures. This was a budget that was supposed to generate a few feelgood headlines (and it even failed to do that), he is saving the real strategy for his friends and business associates.

  9. Mothefuckers rocking a £180 smart coffee mug knocking 5p off fuel which pretty much increased by that over night.

  10. Jesus, David Davis is a complete and utter waste of space. Why would anyone even bother to report what he says. Tim, horrible and dim

  11. The tories have had no strategy for anything for years.

They’re winging it…if they can bothered to do even that.

    It’s the only explanation.

Can you imagine Truss, Gove, Grayling, Dorres etc…actually sitting in a meeting and discussing policy?

Actually, it’s probably better for us if they don’t.

  12. I don’t see why this council tax rebate is such a big deal.

Surely, knock 150 quid off of everyone’s bill. Job done. No need to find extra cash to get it to those who don’t trust their council with a DD, and much less administration.

    Why must they complicate things?

  13. Johnson seems to have greenlit the attacks on Sunak after a front page Saturday Telegraph headline critisizing him.

  14. He’s got the difficult job of trying to placate the masses whilst retaining opportunities for rich people to get richer. And new global economic conditions. It’s like Gordon Brown in 2009. A poisoned chalice.
