  1. Good news. Let’s get those interest rates cut – and quickly

  2. “UK economy will struggle to grow more than 1% in 2025”

    Remember that headline?

  3. How are we going to turn this in to a negative then?

  4. These headlines are doing the hokey cokey—one foot in, one foot out, and a whole lot of spinning nonsense.

  5. In a blow to Rachel Reeves’s adversaries, the economy grows

  6. An easy way to understand if economic news is good or bad is to check if the headline mentions Rachel Reeves.

If it does, then it is bad news. If it doesn’t, then it’s great news.

    This is good news.

  7. Yes it’s at 0.7 and they only predicted 0.6. This is obviously before April when everything when up so the next results will be interesting.

  8. This is definitely good news although some economists have expressed concern that this is partly due to a rush of activity prior to the impositions of tariffs so the next quarter may cool off.

Don’t get me wrong though it’s a good figure and best in G7.

  9. All together now:

    “Thinnnnnngs…can only get betterrrrrrrrrrr”

  10. Weird, I didn’t see this anywhere in the Daily Mail, Express or the Telegraph.

  11. If the trend continued that would be 2.8% growth for the year, which was what we were getting 2008 pre-financial crash. Although we had strong growth at the start of last year which tailed off.

  12. Everyone rushes online and to the media and go “yes, but…”

  13. So.. reading the article the UK grew faster than the G7…I guess the government can now repeat this for the next two years, even if it’s only for a quarter. The Conservatives felt this was a valid tactic every time I watched Question time since labour were elected.

  14. Maybe, but with how often these figures are revised I’d not be suprised if it was a lot better or worse than this figure.

  15. >Could today’s growth data be bad news for interest rate cuts?

    Blatant, pathetic spin and bias.

  16. with the obr being so wrong again, maybe labour should revisit their decision to give their forecasts so much influence over fiscal policy
