The second largest electricity provider in Slovakia, Stredoslovenská energetika (SSE) started offering an intelligent battery storage system for households and small and medium-sized enterprises to optimise their consumption, make better use of the photovoltaic system.
The Infimeo intelligent battery storage is developed by the Slovak technology company Fuergy. Unlike classic batteries, which usually only store energy and the storage owner uses it according to current needs, Infimeo can manage consumption actively and always prioritizes the most advantageous scenario for the owner, without any need for manual adjustment.
The system analyses electricity consumption and production, free battery capacity, the situation in the grid and current electricity prices. When there is an excess of energy in the grid, the battery is charged, thus taking excess electricity from the grid. On the contrary, when there is a lack of electricity, the battery is discharged, reducing consumption and consumption from the grid and at the same time contributing to its stabilisation. The owner of the storage thus provides its supplier (in this case, SSE) with services for network flexibility and receives a financial reward from SSE for these services.
The capacity of Infimeo is up to 60 kWh, which is designed for households and small and medium-sized enterprises.
“The key potential of the Infimeo solution lies in the fact that the universal subsidisation of electricity prices will likely come to an end soon, creating pressure on households and small businesses to actively seek ways to optimise their consumption and reduce costs,” said CBO Fuergy, Vladimír Miškovský.
