ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s Downtown Bike Unit beginning next week will be housed out of a new location at the Globe Building.

The bike unit has started moving into its new station at 710 N. Tucker Blvd. and will begin operating out of the space May 20. The Downtown Bike Unit is relocating from a space inside the Fashion Square building at 1307 Washington Ave. The new station was first announced in June 2024.

The Globe Building, owned by Steve Stone, has a 10-year lease with the Downtown St. Louis Community Improvement District (CID) for a 4,000-square-foot space that will be used by the Downtown Bike Unit. The space is designed for 25 officers. The Globe Building has fully funded the space’s buildout and is providing the space under lease to the Downtown CID at no charge. The Globe Building, once home to the former St. Louis Globe-Democrat newspaper, is now a technology and geospatial complex. Tenants include General Dynamics, Maxar Technologies and Stereotaxis.
