‘From the North to steelworks’ | RWE plans 1,500km hydrogen pipeline grid through Germany

  1. Just a question as to why in gods name would you do this?

I get it, Germany is still very reliant on gas infrastructure for heating and what not, but why would you ever even consider transitioning to hydrogen as oppose to just electrifying completely (like Norway has done)?

Hydrogen conversion is **always** a loss of energy, and its okay for things like energy storaging. But for regular infrastructure it just seems compeltely backwards, and not a long term solution. Its a waste of energy, let alone having to be exposed to a gas that will do everything it can to react (aka, ignite/explode). Its also 12x smaller or so than Methane, it heats on expansion and is thus much harder to manage.

What your goal should be is to get rid off natural gas, and gas infrastructure ASAP, and not commit to anti-solutions like this.
