Around 55 percent of Germans support an energy embargo. 20 percent “doesn’t know”. It’s divided by party lines with far right (AfD) against it the most.
Until the AfD (nazi party) still has right to vote in parliament, big companies keep doing business and gain profit with Russia and people’s thoughts are “I’d rather let Ukrainians die and have the Balkans invaded than losing gas and risking a nuke on my head”…Germany can’t really do much.
In other words: More than half of the Germans think it is sufficient or decline to have an opinion in the mather…
And they are absolutely correct.
this morning, on german public tv, i’ve seen other surveys saying 65% were of the opinion, the measures taken so far were adecuate and ~30% not enough. These are surveys with limited participants, varying quality of questions and finally conclusions that can be phrased in a way that distorts a bit reality. not saying there is intention here, just want to say surveys are relativ.
But it’s what i could see the consensus was that the majority of Germans support total ban on oil.
But Mr. Scholz was designated by Mrs Merkel herself as her successor. What else could be expected but to continue her policies?
