KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Spire Energy has responded to a gas leak near the Crossroads area of Kansas City.
The Kansas City Fire Department stated on Thursday afternoon that firefighters responded to a natural gas line rupture in the area of 24th Street and Southwest Boulevard just before 1:30 p.m.
The fire department stated that a 4-inch line was struck during a digging operation, and emergency responders evacuated several structures in the area as a precaution.
“Traffic remains blocked in all directions for two to three blocks and is expected to be for the next hour to two hours,” KCFD stated. “Afternoon travelers are advised to find an alternate route for the next several hours.”
