People were so in favor of supporting Ukraine but the second they had to pay more for gas they instantly demanded that we start subsidizing Putin’s war by artificially lowering the price of gas.
Or just like always: people might claim to support something, until it affects their own lifestyle then the cause can go fuck itself.

Germany (mainly gas) as expected, but also The Netherlands (mainly oil).
I see a lot of people be big idiots concerning house hold temperature but it’s all about convenience and luxury. Let me tell you this. I had a gas leakage 3 months ago. Fluvius shut down my gas. Since then I couldn’t get it fixed quickly because some other things were outdated. I wouldn’t get clearance to open up the gas without heavy investment so I went for a pretty big renovation and a loan.
Long story short: i was without heating for the last three months. Well I can tell you this. Temperature went as low as 13° inside but most of the time idled around 15°. Your house also gets warmth from other sources like ground temperature and the people and activity inside.
I didn’t ‘freeze’ to death. I didn’t even get sick. I never was cold. Why? I wore a set of thermic underwear under my normal clothing. When I went to sit down for longer periods (working on the pc or watching tv for example) I wore an extra fleece over my normal sweater and a blanket over my legs. About 3 times I did wear a wool bonnet to minimize temperature loss from my head.
Was it comfortable? Not like before with heating. But I can live like this. My parents grew up like this. My grandparents always lived like this. It’s not ‘modern’ no. But is it necessary? I am not even saying you should always live like this. We could do it for a while to get back at Russia.
We are slaves to comfort. That’s it. If you disagree you are lying to yourself.
