This is all intentional. By not working against it, parents will become more and more paranoid and will not send their children to school anymore, but opt for more and more homeschooling. This will prevent the spread of ‘too liberal ideas’ and create properly aligned future voters for the MAGA crowd, since more and more publicly available information sources have already been eliminated and as such the streamlined MAGA information is all that is left to teach.
I believe they are under reporting cases. If Ontario alone has over 1600 how can all our states have less if the outbreak started in Texas?
The industrial era brought with it a realization that the power holders needed lots and lots of healthy and well educated citizens to think and work in new disciplines if they wished to remain in power and unconquered.
This investment in individual people made them much less disposable than they once were. A very small minority of the population was needed for the old kinds of jobs that presented the greatest risks of injury, death, or an otherwise shorter working life.
With AI and advanced robots on the horizon, as well as longevity increasing tech, and climate change making it more costly to support our current numbers; The rich are rethinking this paradigm that launched humanity into the stars. They seem more willing every day to let an ever increasing fraction of the public just…. die. The larger this fraction, the worse our public services will get.
This isn’t just an RFK thing, this is a fundamental shift in the already tenuous relationship between the wealthy and the rest.
We have a vaccine. Measles mostly kills willful idiots, or their children. I am convinced that we will remain fully uninterested in slowing this outbreak down until it mutates sufficiently enough to render even vaccinated people vulnerable.
Remember when people blamed Covid for all the bad policies trump had the first time around? It looks like hes cooking up another smoke screen, but this one requires the consent of state level officials.
