1. De Niro is almost old enough to run for president.

2. We need more famous people to stand up and push back against this kleptocracy

4. Actors shouldn’t be your political influencers. They do not live in the same world as you.

5. Of course he should speak up. It’s his right under the Constitution, and as a tax paying citizen of the country. It’s a shame more of his fellow celebrities aren’t following suit.

10. I know De Niro has flaws like all of us do and I do think it’s a little selfish to have a child so old HOWEVER I love that he stands his ground on this. He knows it’s wrong and messed up and calls it out.

11. Some people will argue that he should stay in his lane, and that we shouldn’t let celebrities influence our politics. And I get that. I do.

    But the way I see it, De Niro is rich, famous and very influential. Good on him for using that platform for something he believes is worthwhile.

15. The arts are being attacked so artists need to stand up for themselves as much as anyone else. Of course he’s a citizen as well. Naturally Trump’s base hate him, so Trump can use that for his own advantage, but frankly there’s more to be gained by those with the guts leading by example at this point and giving other people the guts to stand up as well. When there’s pushback Trump retreats. When there isn’t he just asks for more. People have to stand up.
