A strange place to post this, but I know no other place or people to offer it!
I have, to give free, an extra seedling of piel de sapo/toadskin melon. It's healthy, and was grown from sterile seed in my own home, never exposed to foreign pathogens. It was so difficult to get the seed to grow and get healthy seedlings, so it's a shame to throw it out, but I can't house this extra one!
These melons do fantastic on the closed glass parveke, especially facing northeast where they get a lot of sun.
Plant info:
It needs 8 hours of light a day to produce, but more is better.
It flourishes between 24°C and 32°C
Minimum of 20 L of soil to grow, 40 is ideal
Grows great in containers! Needs no pruning
It's a strong, fast-climbing vine that grows quickly and provides big, trefoil shade leaves.
It has male and female blossoms on the same plant which need pollinating
The blossoms are edible and delicious fried too!
It's susceptible to powdery mildew, but less so than yellow squash!
It needs copious watering if in a container
It's a heavy feeder and needs fertilizing at least once a month with blood or worm castings!
If you're interested, reply here. I live in the Vantaa area close to the train station. I'll hang onto the plant for 3 weeks before I run out of space for it.
