Vice President JD Vance is under fire for his recent social media post touting his support of law enforcement officers.

Vance wrote in a post on social media platform X that the Trump administration has “zero tolerance” for those threatening to “defund” police officer. Many critics pushed back on his claim, arguing that President Donald Trump’s blanket pardons of Jan. 6 rioters show that the administration does not respect law enforcement.

“The Trump Administration has zero tolerance for anyone who threatens to defund, abolish, or otherwise diminish our law enforcement heroes. We are going to fight against criminals and empower our police officers to do their jobs every single day. #BacktheBlue,” Vance wrote on X.

His post was immediately roasted by social media users. Many noted that Trump’s blanket pardons of Jan. 6 rioters included those charged of assaulting police officers at the Capitol.

“‘Zero tolerance,’” huh? Trump kicked off his presidency by pardoning 130+ January 6 rioters convicted of assaulting cops. Some ‘back the blue’ that is,” the account, Republicans Against Trump, wrote on X.

Another user wrote: “According to Trump and JD Vance, it’s okay to be violent if you believe the 2020 election was stolen.”

One user said that the Trump administration made cuts to local law enforcement as part of the Department of Government Efficiency’s plan to slash government spending.

“Putting aside J6, Donald Trump and DOGE defunded the police by slashing $500 million in DOJ grants for local law enforcement.Republicans in Congress want to codify the DOGE cuts.Sit down, Shillbilly Vance,” the user wrote.

Trump pardoned, commuted the prison sentences or promised to dismiss the cases of about 1,500 people charged in the Capitol riot at the start of his term. This came after some Republicans— including Vance—said Trump would not pardon those charged with violent crimes during the insurrection.
