Have you insulation on the new roof? I always wonder when I see these cottages if roof insulation is enough to make it liveable

Is your uncle a tree surgeon by any chance? Was talking to one a while ago, mentioned he was going this route with his roof

Seen so much butchered renovations on cottages because they want to be cast on grand design and miss the point of low sitting dinky little cottage.

He might consider turning that open fire into a stove.
Open fires are quaint but they are also a health hazard + the stove at least would have utility for cooking/baking aswell. You can do these things with a open fire but takes significantly more work and equipment.

Is there sound insulation under that corrugated roof, or is your uncle under the impression it doesn’t rain in Ireland
