  1. The fact that there are people who believe Holocaust didn’t happen is the issue. Something is terribly wrong with our education.

  2. Don’t agree with it from a personal philosophical perspective, but you would frankly have a *very* hard time trying to make me stand up for the rights of Holocaust deniers.

  3. Holocaust deniers, yet they believe in Jesus no problem

  4. Finland’s stance up until now has been that history is not dependent on official approval, nor is it hurt by someone denying it (makes sense based on how the Soviet Union and Russia have actively tried to whitewash their own occupations and attacks). But I get the point of choosing this new path, since Holocaust denial is purely a far right fringe movement tool, and simultaneously Russia is actively trying to convince its citizens that many western countries are treasuring nazist ideologies on some meaningful scale.

  5. Controlling speech, however idiotic, is never a good idea, or an advisable precedent to set. We need to educate people…

  6. Well this will sure show those conspiracy nuts who think Jews control the world’s governments.

  7. No matter how stupid, I will never understand people supporting the state policing speech.

  8. It’s a slippery slope. Sets a horrible precedent on free speech and expanding violations to include anti Israel rhetoric potentially.
Will they imprison pro Palestinian protesters.?..as they’re starting to do in the US. As vile as some may consider Holocaust deniers….or simply anti Jewish rhetoric…there still needs to be a place at the free speech table for all opinions…. unless of course there’s rhetoric to physically harm others.
Why isn’t there this huge push against deniers of other genocides … Ukrainian via Stalin, Armenian, African tribal genocides etc?

  9. Serious question: is there any reason the Holocaust is the only genocide that countries won’t allow denial of?

Like, the Armenian genocide is denied by Turkey and many Muslims in general (if not admitted to but outright praised). The Holodomor is still denied by Russians and tankies everywhere. Same for Pol Pots genocide and tankies saying it’s a capitalist fabrication.

I feel like governments being like “It’s fine to deny literally every genocide that ever happened, but if you deny the Holocaust we will arrest you” isn’t helping with the “Jews control everything” conspiracy theories.

Jews being treated as a special class of people whose lives are worth more than everyone else’s doesn’t alleviate antisemitism, it pour fuel on the fire of it.

  10. Good, it was a massive mistake for some countries to include unrestricted free speech in their constitution (or equivalent). Some speech shouldn’t be protected.

  11. It drives me nuts when people deny the holocaust. I mean, we are Germans, we are super efficient in bureaucracy, making lists, photos, collecting proofs … being absolutely precise is in our DNA. We documented our crime so well, there are millions of proofs nowadays. And despite this , there are fuckers who are telling me: naaaah that’s exaggerated…

  12. Genocide denial is happening right now.

Edit: there is a genocide and war crimes currently being perpetrated that is being denied.

  13. Good, well done.

Also please dont let the germans and austrians forget

  14. Kinda weird to ban someones opinion even if it’s a garbage braindead take.

  15. Finland moves to ban half the Trump regime and its sycophants

  16. Holocaust denialism is dumb, but i think it’s free speech

  17. How are you people ok with your freedoms being restricted

  18. Nothing says a thing happened more than laws against questioning whether it did.
