There is no Twint subreddit, I don’t know where to post this. I got 50 chf by a person I don’t know. Should I just send it back or is this a scam? I don’t have Twint that long, I seriously don’t know what to do.

  1. looks scamy. did you bought something with twint and got it refunded?

  2. People make.mistakes all the time, they might have typed the wrong number, or they are part of a scam, but if they send you money, then they are the victim rather than the scammer.

    Text them, ask them. If they tell you to send the 50chf elsewhere, decline. If they want a bank transfer, decline. You decline any other form of payment or any other recipient. You send it back to that specific number. That way, you don’t take part in whatever they want you to take part in, and the bill is even.

  3. Do not send it back, wait for a few days to see what happens. Contact twint support, if it’s a legit mistake they will resolve it. But if you send it back and then the transaction is canceled then you will lose money.

  4. Just hold on to it until someone writes you a message. Should you receive a message, don’t do anything rash and give it a long hard think. If they want you to twint some other number, it’s very likely a scam (money laundering). If no one writes you a message, enjoy your free money I suppose

  5. Common scam. Oftentimes they will contact you and ask to send the money back, but their initial transaction was on bank hold on insufficient funds.

    You end up sending the CHF 50 back and then the transaction for the CHF 50 you received is canceled/withdrawn from the pending account.

  7. Could be a honest mistake, could be a scam.

    A few months ago I got 20 CHF from a number I don’t know, no comment with it. Was never contacted by the number, and the money was never taken back, so I guess they just sent to the wrong number and were shy to ask for it as the sum was relatively small.

    tl;dr: Just don’t do anything for now and see what happens..

  8. 90% it‘s a scam, 10% it‘s a du bass learning a valuable lesson about double-checking before doing a transfer.

  9. I had the same some months ago (you can check my post history). He reached out to me on Whatsapp right away and told me, it’s ok if I only send him back 40. I ended up calling my bank’s hotline before doing anything. After talking to them, I sent back the 50 bucks to the person.

  10. I would check your bank account. Is the transaction confirmed. You should be fine, to send it back.

  11. Just keep it. Block anyone who contacts you and keep it.

  14. Happened to me already couple of times, my phone number is very similar to one other. I just sent the money back.
