Irish beachgoers can expect highs of up to 25C this weekend, but only in select areas.
A mini-heatwave is sweeping Ireland, with the west and southwest coasts tipped for the warmest weather, while eastern beaches could be noticeably cooler, with some spots dipping as low as 13C.
According to Alan O’Reilly from Carlow Weather, cited by The Irish Sun, those planning a seaside escape should “take note of the temperature difference on the East Coast and parts of Southeast,” noting that while things will warm slightly by Sunday, there’s still a significant coastal contrast. He added, “It’s a flex scale to show the difference before anyone gets scared of some red colours.”

If you’re looking to soak up the sun, head west. Coastal counties like Clare and Kerry are expected to reach between 20C and 25C across the weekend.
Co Clare
Lahinch Beach in County Clare is a top pick this weekend, especially for surfers and families. The vast sandy stretch, known for its clean waters and surf schools, is perfect for swimming, kayaking, and snorkelling. With its Blue Flag status and wide open spaces, there’s room for everyone.
Co Kerry
In Kerry, Banna Strand is also expected to be a suntrap. It boasts family-friendly swimming conditions and watersports access.
Temperatures in Dublin and Wicklow are forecast to sit between 13C and 17C.
With such mixed weather across the country, planning ahead is key to making the most of the mini-heatwave. To make it easier, many of Ireland’s bathing waters have been recently rated excellent.
