  1. Visa fees in uk are the reason it’s so unattractive country

  2. I really can’t stress how we have to stand firm on the working element. I’m in charge of recruitment for graduate level jobs and have 100s of CVs come in from highly skilled graduates abroad who offer to do the job for minimum wage.

This would f**k over the next generation even more than they have been last few years

  3. Lol, what a misleading title when the article then goes on to say ‘for more than £1,000 of fees and requirement for £2,500 of savings to access the scheme’

The fee for the visa is £319, with the healthcare surcharge being £776 and the requirements to have savings of £2,530.

That’s what every country the UK has a youth mobility agreement with has to comply with, including Australia, Iceland and Canada.

This is no different from the requirements in other EU countries. Germany, for example, for its equivalent youth visa requires savings of €3,000 on top of the fees and valid health insurance for the duration of the stay.

  4. There is very extra little here for the UK. The EU want unlimited youth access and indefinite fishing rights.

In return they will help prevent migrants crossing illegally? The track record of this ‘help’ is awful with the French well documented to take UK funding and stand back observing the migrant crisis. UK patrols to push back and immediate deportation to 3rd countries is the only thing that will work. Cutting the non contributory benefits would also help massively.

What would be useful to most UK folk
What about the 90 day limit for visits for 2nd home owners.
Access to the EU migration lane (like the swiss have)
The right to work a short amount in the EU (say 10 days). Reducing border goods inspections that sees extra fees piled on goods.
