This is gorgeous Gus, an extremely handsome lurcher (possibly Saluki lurcher). He is about 2 years old. He is a super dog who loves company and is in his element when he is getting his head rubbed or his ears scratched. He loves to be taken for a walk and is very good and gentle on the lead.
He is sharing his kennel and run with another lurcher at our shelter, and but will be happier in a home where he is the only dog.
We do not recommend a home with small dogs, or cats, as lurchers can have high prey drive and could mistake something small for a rabbit. Lurchers are lovely pets, they are suited to active homes but if they get sufficient exercise they can often be quite lazy dogs at home. Lurchers seem to prefer snoozing somewhere warm and comfortable in the house.Preferably on the sofa or even your bed.
Gus should go to a home with a secure boundary of at least 6ft, as lurchers can jump quite high. Gus has been neutered, vaccinated and chipped (Chip number 972274200305611, origin Ireland).
If you are interested in adopting Gus please submit an expression of interest form which can be found in the following link http://kwwspca.ie/adoption-process
No calls please.
We ask for a minimum donation of €200 when we rehome a dog to partly offset our veterinary and other expenses. A dog licence and collar tag are required to complete the adoption, and a secure garden is required. The Kildare & West Wicklow Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (KWWSPCA) is a registered charity (Number CHY6280) and is registered with the Charities Regulatory Authority (Number 20011048). DAFM reg. number IPT200001C
What a lovely lad, very Billy Joe Armstrong with his eyeliner
Gus is a handsome fella! Hope his forever family find him soon. We’ve two whippets & they’re just brilliant!
