VERMILION, Ohio — Students at Vermilion High School will have the opportunity to connect directly with astronauts aboard the International Space Station during a live Earth-to-space event at 11 a.m. Friday.

NASA astronaut Nichole Ayers and JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) astronaut Takuya Onishi will answer pre-recorded questions submitted by Vermilion students in grades 9 through 12. The event is part of a NASA education initiative to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers and explorers through interactions with astronauts living and working in orbit.

The public is invited to watch the event live online through the NASA STEM YouTube Channel.

The 20-minute conversation is not only a Q&A but also a chance for local students to see how their curiosity and classroom learning connect with cutting-edge science in space, NASA said.
