Singing for Luxembourg in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest 2025 is pop star Laura Thorn.

The 25-year-old will be representing her country in the final of this year’s competition which takes place in the Swiss city of Basel on Saturday night.

Laura was selected to be Luxembourg’s act after winning the Luxembourg Song Contest 2025. She qualified for the final through Thursday night’s semi-final.

Boasting a Master’s degrees in solfeggio and pedagogy, as well as in pop singing, Laura is fast becoming a sensation on the international music scene.

Practising dance when she was five, Laura began learning to play the piano and cello and taking solfeggio classes at the age of eight.

Clearly loving making tunes to dance the night away to, Laura is versed in harmony, counterpoint, sight-reading for strings and keyboard, as well as choral conducting.

Outside of her music career, she works as a teacher at the Conservatoire de Musique in Esch/Alzette.

A native speaker of Luxembourgish and French, Laura is also fluent in English and German. In a Eurovision rarity, her track La Poupée Monte Le Son (The Doll Turns Up The Sound) is the artist’s debut single.

The track is a nod to the song Poupée De Cire, Poupée De Son (Wax Doll, Rag Doll), Luxembourg’s winning Eurovision entry in 1965.

Speaking about her song, Laura said: “I was thrilled with the project as soon as the authors presented it to me. I love playing with the irony and provocation that the song conveys.”

Luxembourg are heading into the event as one of the underdogs to lift the glass microphone trophy, with their odds of winning 200/1 ahead of the show, according to bookies Ladbrokes.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2025 final takes place on Saturday, May 17.

It will be broadcast live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer with Graham Norton hosting and commentating for UK viewers. On BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds, Scott Mills and Rylan will be leading the commentary. Coverage across the BBC will start at 8pm.

The lyrics in full for La Poupée Monte Le Son

Laura performs the song in French. Here are the lyrics along with the English translation.

Si tu n’vois en moi qu’une poupée parfaite If all you see in me is a perfect doll

Qui sourit et puis se tait quand tu le souhaites Who smiles and then shuts up when you want her to

Oublie-moi, je ne suis pas ta marionnette Forget me, I’m not your puppet

C’est comme ça, c’est comme ça That’s the way it is, that’s the way it is

Ton p’tit manège s’arrête Your little game is over

Si tu crois qu’un homme comme toi me manipule If you think a man like you can manipulate me

Retourne chez maman, vaut mieux qu’tu capitules Go back to mummy, you’d better give up

Ou sinon c’est moi qui te désarticule Or else, I’m the one who will dismantle you

Prends garde à toi, garde à toi Beware, beware

Car je prends les manettes Because I’m taking the controls

Nouveau mode d’emploi New instruction manual

Je peux tout faire sans toi I can do everything without you

C’est un autre schéma It’s another setup

Une autre époque Another era

Je donne de la voix I make my voice heard

Alors surtout joue pas So, above all, don’t play

Au ventriloque The ventriloquist

The doll turns up the…

Si tu me pensais fragile en porcelaine If you thought I was fragile like porcelain

Ou plus malléable, du genre polyéthylène Or more malleable, like polyethylene

Je n’suis pas comme ça, j’ai besoin d’oxygène I’m not like that, I need oxygen

M’en veux pas, m’en veux pas Don’t blame me, don’t blame me

Un nouveau monde m’appelle A new world is calling me

Si tu comptais m’exposer dans ta vitrine If you were intending to display me in your showcase

Avec toute ta collection de figurines With your complete collection of figurines

Désolée pour toi mais moi seule détermine Sorry for you but I alone determine

Où mon cœur va, mon cœur va Where my heart goes, my heart goes

Oui, je tire les ficelles Yes, I am pulling the strings

Nouveau mode d’emploi New instruction manual

Je n’compte plus que sur moi I’m relying on myself alone now

C’est le signal, tu vois You see, that’s the sign

D’une autre époque Of another era

Je donne de la voix I make my voice heard

Pour déclencher chez toi To trigger in you

L’électrochoc The electroshock

La poupée monte le son The doll turns up the sound

Ta poupée, comme tu l’appelles, Your doll, as you call her

Fait monter les décibels Turns up the decibels

Elle est l’écho d’une nouvelle She is the echo of a new

Génération Generation

Sans chiffon ni plastique Without rags or plastic

Dans ses caractéristiques In her specifications

Ta poupée mène la musique Your doll conducts the music

Elle monte le… She turns up the…

Elle monte le… She turns up the…

Elle monte le son She turns up the sound
