  1. > Commander of a battalion of the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade “Magura,” Oleksandr Shyrshyn, submitted a resignation report, accusing the command of “idiotic tasks” and unjustified loss of personnel.

    > **Quote:** “I’ve never received more idiotic tasks than in the current direction. One day I’ll tell the details, but the senseless loss of people and trembling before incompetent generals leads to nothing but failures. All they’re capable of is reprimands, investigations, and imposing penalties…

    > ‘Political’ games and the assessment of the real situation do not correspond to either reality or capabilities. They’ve gone too far.”

    > **Details:** The battalion commander noted that he had written a report and expressed hope for his dismissal in the near future. He also added that he would soon be ready to share the details with journalists.

    > Shyrshyn also tagged the official page of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in his post, commenting: “I hope your children will also serve in the infantry and carry out your tasks.”

    > **Background:** The 47th Brigade has been operating in the Kursk region since autumn 2024.

    > Oleksandr Shyrshyn became the commander of a battalion in the 47th Brigade in July 2024.

    > In early 2023, renowned historian and Yale University professor Timothy Snyder met with Shyrshyn, who had previously been photographed reading Snyder’s book *The Road to Unfreedom* in a trench.

  2. He is not wrong, props to him for having the balls to resign.

  3. There is still much soviet mentality and tactics in the Ukrainian army. Speaking up is the first step away from them. 💪

  4. So this group the other day was making a big deal of Russia dismissing General Saliukov, as showing more Russian incompetence. Here, you have a commander from the famed 47th Mechanized brigade, an elite of the elite who had been fighting in the heavily celebrated Kursk incursion. He calls out his commanding generals publicly for their own incompetence, and he wants to bring all that to light to the media. Where are all those people now to discuss the issue of the current state of the AFU?

This man’s role in this war is done after everything he has sacrificed. Coming out publicly this way will possibly lead to his career, reputation, and his family being smeared. With him possibly facing charges from those he calls out. If Ukraine doesn’t rally around these men like Oleksandr Shyrshyn, they will lose this war.

  5. I’ve heard many complaints from American Veterans who’ve served in the International Legion about inept and petty “2nd World” mentality leadership in Ukraine. Though, Thank God they’re still smarter than the Russians.

Additionally, I’ve heard that the Ukrainian leadership for foreign units are not their best.

Note: I am not a russian troll/bot and still plan to enlist in 2 months.

  6. Th article says that he is a battalion commander from the 47th Bde, not the commander of the 47th Bde. I’m not commenting on the story as such, just the seemingly incorrect summary.

  7. Looks like game over for Ukraine, as military about to quit on government and country

  8. He is not the only person to recently resign (not from this brigade though).

  9. This wasn’t exactly the 8647 that I was looking for this week…

  10. I agree 100% with his analysis and I’m glad that commanders are speaking out. Ukraine is at a crossroads, where NATO and soviet doctrine are both being applied, and unfortunately not all commanders have adapted. Let’s hope this serves as a wake-up call to other commanders to change their strategies and stop simply throwing troops at the front in suicidal assaults or chaotic withdrawals. Russia does this exact same thing and there’s plenty of videos of Ukrainian FPV drones taking them out (including staging points several kilometers from the front) – so it’s obvious that Ukraine should not be doing the same, and they should change their strategies accordingly.
