  1. We can’t afford this

    Edit:

Sorry, maybe this needs some explanation. In Austria, the finance minister said the government has to save money, so they’ve raised prices on essentials like IDs and cut other things. The running joke is that we can’t have nice things because we can’t afford them. So now, every time something nice happens, we just go, “Oh my god we can’t afford this.”

  2. Very surprised about the gap between the amount of 1st and 2nd votes of the public’s favourite

  3. Pathetic that Israel nearly won.

Also, no huge thread during the festival ?

  4. Where did all those votes for Israel come from? Was a bit surprised

  5. If it wasn’ for the jury… who would have won? Israel? Estonia? Or I missed sth else?

  6. Another year, another Eurovision result I don’t understand.

  7. I mean, I saw in the artists’ face. Everyone knows this felt rigged af. I truly hope EBU looks into Israel votes, and they have been [found to rig Eurovision votes last year](https://archive.is/ySaYp) (archive link). Some are already furious Israel is afforded a place in Eurovision in the first place.

  8. >However, for the second year running, the UK received no points in the public score.

I don’t understand how this is even possible

  9. Never have I supported Austria so much in my life. That 290 points from public about Israel is total bs. It deserves investigation

  10. austira wins against isreal last second

you can’t make this shit up lol

  11. I couldn’t even remember Israel’s song. Definitely rigged that they nearly won. Luckily Austria stopped that from happening. Also, UK weren’t the best tonight but zero points from the public again? Really?

  12. Switzerland in 2nd place after the jury then zero points from the public? This isn’t legit…..

  13. Didn’t like Austria’s song, but that voting and ad buying shit Israel keeps pulling should get them disqualified.

  14. As someone from Australia and just got out of bed, this got me excited for a second

  15. I often find these votes baffling. Did that many people love the Israeli song? Every Eurovision watcher type person I know in the UK despises them! Kinda feels like there is a groundswell of support or it’s been abused!

And it wasn’t Wannabe or anything but 0 points for UK? I thought it was a pretty decent tune well sang? (One of the few I can imagine could chart somewhat without Eurovision if it got lucky, most are way to niche and wail-y!)

  16. The bookmakers were a complete joke this year, and I think they’ve never been this off…

Sweden had a 49% win chance, more than double of the next candidate. They ended up 4th. During the first semi-final, Belgium had a 88% chance to get through. They didn’t. Portugal had a 86% chance to *not* get through. They still made it.

These people have no idea what they’re doing whatsoever.

  17. MI AMORE

    MI AMORE

    ESPRESSO MACHIATTO MACHIATTO POR FAVORE

  18. Whole thing needs an overhaul. Public just consistently voting politically and for their neighbours is killing it.

People take it so seriously, its meant to be a laugh.

  19. It feels a bit hypocritical to ban Russia from the competition but at the same time allowing Israel to compete.

But i’m very glad Austria took it home today, the lad deserved it.

  20. Well the UK still got zero points from the audience.

But they took it with humor, and to be honest I don’t think it deserved those zero points.

  21. I’m so surprised with Israel because like hello? The song fking sucked? It was mediocre, felt out of touch and was too politically relevant.

  22. Austria having a good day – Oliver Glasner becoming the first Austrian manager to win the FA Cup, giving Crystal Palace their first major trophy in their 100+ year history and now this!

  23. UK and Switzerland getting zero from public was just unnecessarily mean

  24. Really wanted that Estonia win, we’ll get em next time

  25. Definitely not farming votes across Europe to make it seem like people support what Isreal is doing to the people of Gaza.

  26. I still don’t get how Sweden or Estonia didn’t get the most people points. To me, they were clearly the best Eurovision (fun, memorable, out there) songs.

However, I did like the Austrian song also, just not as much.

  27. Tonight proves my point: to win Eurovision, you should be queer. 5 out of the last 6 winners were queer, and in 2022 (the year the war started), Ukraine won.

By the way, this is just an observation – no judgment. I thought Austria was great tonight!

  28. Absolutely nobody can convince me Israel’s song was that popular and that absolutely tomfoolery was going on behind the scenes to try and edge them a win.

  29. The televote results were just fucking awful. Sweden not even remotely close to winning is shocking. And Switzerland getting 0 points is fucking diabolical …

EBU needs to change the public voting system as soon as possible, for example change it to one vote per phone number. Otherwise Israel will continue to win the televote. Even if I thought they were pretty solid this year in no fucking way did they deserve to be 2nd. Top 10? Sure. But 2nd? Fuck off.

  30. I absolutely love Eurovision but the political side of it is RUINING the whole competition for me now.

Do I think the UK deserved top 10. No. Do I think we deserved 0 points on the televote. Absolutely not.

This is also the second time the polls have shown isreal not even close to the top 10 in the televote but them also receiving the highest number of televotes. I am absolutely convinced a telephone scam is going on here (like azerbijan did when they last won) but no one dares say it through fear of being called an anti semite.
