US President Donald Trump was ‘not thrilled’ after being presented with ‘drop of oil’ as a gift in Abu Dhabi. On Friday, Trump attended a presentation led by Sultan Al-Jaber, the head of the state-owned Abu Dhabi National Oil Co., as well as officials from Exxon Mobil Corp. and Occidental, two oil firms.

In a video that is going viral, after he finishes a presentation, Sultan Al Jaber presents Trump with a capsule of high-quality, domestically produced crude oil called Murban. Trump was quick to open it and turn towards the camera before cracking a joke, saying, “this is one drop of oil”.

He remarked, “The highest quality oil there is on the planet, and they only gave me a drop of it, so I’m not thrilled.”

All about the special drop of oil gifted to Trump

Murban is a light, sweet crude oil produced by ADNOC, which was discovered at the Murban Bab Oil Field in 1958, according to their website The well, called Murban-3, began producing 3,674 barrels per day of crude oil upon its completion in 1960. This oil has an API gravity of 40 and a sulfur content of 0.778, making it one of the lowest carbon-emission crude oils in the world.

But besides the drop of oil, Sultan al Jaber, the head of UAE oil giant ADNOC, told Trump that the Gulf Arab state and the US plan to spend $440 billion in the energy sector until 2035. “Our partners have committed new investments worth $60 billion in upstream oil and gas, as well as new and unconventional opportunities,” Al Jaber said, Reuters reported.

Trump’s visit to the Middle East has drawn huge financial commitments to the US not only from the UAE, but also from Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Saudi Arabia is set to invest USD 600 billion in the United States, including the largest defence sales agreement between the allies, worth nearly USD 142 billion.
