here’s a thought experiment for you
1) Imagine you ran a business here in the UK, made money, gained assets, paid tax on it all as expected.
2) You took up residence in a foreign country without becoming a citizen of that country, declared all the money you had in the world and paid all taxes on earnings there as legally expected.
3) As a foreign person in this new country you reside in you have the right to register that you are British and that your UK assets are not taxed by the new country – would you then simply waive that right and hand a load of the future profits arsing from your previous work in the UK over to the government in the new country of residence? Would you consider that fairly to be their money.?
Wasn’t he having loads of meetings with US healthcare companies over there a few months ago and everyone was wondering where he was and why he was there?
