Apart from song and performance, Eurovision is all about geopolitics and national sympathies. I was wondering: why is there so little love for Poland in Europe? Do the jury votes (and likely the public vote as well) reflect that Poland is generally not well-liked as a country?

Eventually, it didn't recently start any war or were particularly mean with its neighbors. It's not meant to ignite a shitstorm, but I'm really curious how you believe it corresponds (or not) to a nation's perception.

  5. Because the song was terrible imho. I couldn’t listen to it. We’re lucky that we got any points. When we had decent songs we got some points. I don’t think that juries are super bias against Poland. We usually get a lot from public votes due to huge Polonia around Europe.

  7. The sad truth is that Poland my be the only country in Europe which borders multiple countries and is liked by none of them.

  12. We would’ve won if we sent the real talents. Figo Fagot Brothers deserved to go to Eurovision, but were robbed of their certain victory.

  14. Eurovision is about national sympathies but a baseline — good song — is a necessity too. No one is gonna vote for their neighbor if the song is bad and ours was.

    I think the tastes of Poles are just different than other nations and we don’t account for that when we choose our representative. I live abroad and I sometimes play Polish songs (like Podsiadło, Kayah, some rap) to my friends and sadly they just simply don’t like them. They think the melody is simple and uninspiring.

  15. Gaja is just a very weird song, it doesn’t fit any popular genre the casuals like. It still got the middle spot at least so far so it’s not that bad.

    The rest is politics. Israel is probably gonna win and they DO NOT deserve it for that song lol.

  17. I think hardly anyone cares, with every edition people care about it less and less, on top of noone expecting good music from our country

    If not for the daftona girl I doubt the last years show would gain even half the popularity in Poland

    Realistically people hear about it not because of artists but because Israel and Australia are taking part which sounds absurd and shocking

    Google trends doesn’t reflect that, but just my observation in people I know

  19. honestly our song was just ass imo. Eurovision is 40% about making a show, 40% about politics, and 20% about music itself, and our pick just doesnt stand out in any of these metrics

    Poland got a massive public vote.

    The jury are paid snobs. Aside from the low Polish score they gave Iceland 0 which is a disgrace.

  21. It also seemed like EBU tried to sabotage Poland with the recap clip they chose – 99% of it was just instrumentals, only in the last half a second you can hear Justyna’s voice

  22. Same thing happened some years ago I think 2012 where Poland got like 3 jury votes and was 4th in televote. Ban juries.

  24. There is politics there, but overall the most loved songs win with pretty rare exceptions. Israel and Austria are not loved in Europe at all, but they are 1st and 2nd.

  26. Sorry guys, im not from this community, but as a portuguese viewer i just didn’t thought it was good. My thoughts are that the song wasn’t that good and the dragon scene was too over the top. You can criticize Portugal’s song as well, but this is just my opinion. I don’t think that you are a “not well-liked” country, i believe you are good people and, as europeans, good brothers, but i didn’t like the song. I can assure you that the other countries love to have you in the Eurovision just as i do, just keep up the good work!

  28. It’s always political but the song was really poor this year. I mean, it wasn’t a song, there was no melody, nothing to sing along to, just Justyna holding the same note over and over again. She did amazing and put in a lot of work in and dedication, but I think the song let her down big time

So apparently, during the jury performance that is the one juries decide on, very few performances had anything go wrong, but Justyna got stuck in her harness after coming down from getting lifted up. I had hoped for more jury points but at least from knowing that, it helped ease the frustration.

    She is an absolute icon and I can confidently at least say she gained a few more Canadian fans through her participation. Everyone I watched with today was obsessed with her and the dragon! Then we listened to some of her other music and now we all really hope Poland wins next year so we can see her cohost in 2027
