Banks ‘ill-prepared for the biggest logistical challenge in Irish banking since the euro’

  1. Blame the Central Bank.

Have a look at what those fuckwits came up with as a ‘switching code’: [https://www.centralbank.ie/docs/default-source/Regulation/consumer-protection/other-codes-of-conduct/45-gns-4-2-7-code-of-conduct-o.pdf](https://www.centralbank.ie/docs/default-source/Regulation/consumer-protection/other-codes-of-conduct/45-gns-4-2-7-code-of-conduct-o.pdf)

Like, how would you not write that in an accessible way, so that everyone can understand it?

They have the power to ensure fast set up of accounts, that’s in their ability. But they seem to have nobody who works there who understands modern banking.

  2. Or, if everyone with kbc had some sense, which they probably do since they were with kbc instead of aib or boi, they would just join n26 and have a very easy transition.

  3. Time taken to open three joint accounts with KBC in 2020: 2 days.

Time taken to open one joint account with Bank of Ireland in 2022: 11 weeks and counting.

Bank of Ireland are every bit as bad as you’d expect. Internal processes and communications appear to date back to the last century. Branch staff, while friendly, seem totally ineffective at supporting customers. I’d strongly recommend against switching to BoI if you have options.
