2. About time! Earn the price it costs the public to house and feed these people

3. As long as no one gets the bright idea of hiring them out to private companies. I can see the community payback aspect of this, but slave labour for a private company is not acceptable punishment for a crime.

4. More jobs paying less than minium wage. Why not use road tax to maintain roads? Why not pay people a descent wage again? Why keep taking money from councils? We used to build libraries rather than demolish them, build theatres rather than convert them to flats. It’s all still possible, but we are deliberately downgrading the country to the point of dereliction just so 350 billionaires, around the world, can live like pharos. Us humans are not right in head.

11. I agree same with cleaning and maintaining the outdoors, such as graffiti removal, litter ect…

    It’s community service. Don’t like it? Well don’t do illegal shit.

    Degrading and embarrassing? Well how does your victim feel?

12. It’s a great idea if it’s done properly. Ie train them to be proper road crews who know how to cut out pot holes, pour tarmac and roller it properly.

    If it’s just a load of scallies in vests half heartedly hand tamping while being loosely supervised then they’ll get little from it and the pot holes will be back the next time it rains heavily.
