  1. Harsher policing of women’s bodies, just what we need right now. Can we just legalise abortion yet?

  2. So when a woman experiences the trauma of a still birth or miscarriage she will also have to go through the trauma of being treated like a criminal and subjected to a police investigation…

  3. There’s no way in the world that this could end badly. None whatsoever.

  4. I hope they’ve managed to solve every other crime. You know the rapes that have a less than 2% conviction rate. All the domestic violence people suffer through, the murders, the armed robberies, the violent assaults, etc, because this is a ridiculous waste of police time and money.

ETA- I meant charge rate of rape cases, which was 2.6% last year, different to convictions.

  5. It’s always really telling that whenever you try and converse with an anti-abortionist about their views they can never hold an actual conversation and not divert from the point and change the definitions of words to fit their argument. It’s almost as if they hold an indefensible point.
But seriously this article is like the opening line to a dystopian novel

  6. People actually got paid to turn our beautiful Britain into fucking America. 🫣

No wonder our local weed dealers have got no fear. They physically can’t get pregnant.

  7. This is disgraceful. A law from 1860 being interpreted at the whim of the Police at any given time on such a personal and sensitive subject. Another reason this country needs a complete makeover.

  8. Details are also provided for how police could bypass legal requirements for a court order to obtain medical records about a woman’s abortion from NHS providers.

Senior police officers giving advice on how to circumvent due process.

    This should be scrapped.

  9. We already know where this is going, if we look across the ocean at America.
And that’s currently got a brain dead woman being used as a human incubator.

  10. All major crimes been dealt with have they, cool, missed that.

  11. If our first reaction to a woman who has experienced pregnancy loss is not compassion and medical support we are lost as a country.

My view is that the police should only investigate where they have reasonable grounds for suspicion (i.e. probable cause for any Americans reading). If they are not confident that a court will agree that they do then they are probably overstepping. Creating guidance which throws immediate suspicion on any woman who suffers pregnancy loss is heavy handed and fundamentally against the principal of civil liberty. This is not policing by consent.

  12. If this country stopped licking America’s arse so much maybe we wouldn’t catch everything that they come down with…

  13. Guidance changed without consulting medical professionals, or any leading gynaecologists. I guess we should be satisfied they’re so confident they’ve got it right. /S, big S.

I read the article thinking surely it’s a sensationalised headline. I was incredibly wrong.

  14. I know so many women that have desperately wanted a child and miscarried

Surely this will increase the birthrate, right

Edit:: massive /s for anyone who didn’t understand

  15. This is absolutely horrifying. Everyone on here who is advocating for Reform because of immigration, this is the shit you want to import to our country. Backwards, far right thinking.

So disappointing to read that three women were involved in this. What the FUCK

  16. Have they not considered that women having illegal abortions might be those who are particularly vulnerable – victims of trafficking, abuse, coercion, etc.?

Punishing women who are already victims does not seem like the best use of police time/resources. They need help and justice.

And then of course there’s the impact this may have on women who have been through the trauma of miscarrying very wanted babies (I unfortunately know that pain and grief very well), which is utterly abhorrent.

We live in really unsettling times.

  17. This country needs to stop mimicking America I swear to god

  18. I don’t like this. I don’t see the point of it! It’s a waste of time and money when they could be investigating actual crimes

  19. Yet another example of how the police and law in general make our lives worse.

  20. As a man who’s wife had two miscarriages, I’m glad they did not try to search our house and accuse my wife of anything!

  21. So not only a woman had to due with the physical and mental pain of a miscarriage or stillbirth, she will also had to be investigated, searched, strangers in their home and looking through their computer and phone

  22. Fucking hell. More imported US culture war shite.

    Imagine where we’ll be in 50 years…terrifying.

  23. We are not ruled by the faces and colours of our parties, rather by the people and companies that lobby our government.
The faster we act on this as a glaring truth the better for our national security.

  24. Why are we letting the Americans dictate our culture wars?

  25. How about police crack down on phone thefts and London gang activity or assaults instead?
Much better use of their time IMO

  26. This absolutely won’t be abused by religious zealots, to continue to abuse women. Nope at all.

  27. Ah yes, women suffering from complications because they are scared to report their miscarriages to medical professionals for fear of being treated like a criminal, that is _exactly_ what society needs! Because the NHS isn’t overwhelmed enough and doctors have too much time.

  28. …ffs. It’s 2025 and yet it’s becoming more and more dangerous and miserable for women to simply exist

  29. What a load of crap. Waste of time, resources, and puts women who are already suffering through further trauma.

  30. So abusers and rapists are let off so they can continue reoffending and ruining women’s lives but god forbid a woman make a choice to better her own life.
