TAYLOR, Neb. – From creating her first quilt at the age of six to beginning her own quilting business, the journey has literally been built one stitch at a time for Jessi Worm, who held a grand opening of the new space for ‘Stitched by Jessi Rose’ on Saturday.

Worm said that although she had dabbled in quilting her whole life, she got into it much more when she moved back to Nebraska eight years ago.

“I started just making quilts for myself and my family and then people started asking me to make them quilts. I said no, and I said no, and I said no, and then my husband was like ‘You should really just try it’,” Worm laughed.

After her first commissioned quilt went well, Worm bought her first long arm machine about three years ago which required an addition to their home which she said was outgrown in a year.

A quick fast forward later, Worm opened the doors to the public this weekend to show the new space that holds three long arm machines, a large variety of materials, and every tool needed for quilters of all levels.

Three longarm machines stay busy on the upper level of the building. Worm prides herself on a 2 week turnaround on longarm jobs.

She said she wants to be a resource for quilters of all levels and loves hearing about her customers’ quilting journeys. Worm gestured to a wall with potholders, where she got her start.

“This is actually where I started. I didn’t start selling quilts, I started selling pot holders. I went around to vendor shows just to get my name out there and talk to people. So as much as I don’t have time to keep making them, it’s kind of my legacy. Everybody loves the pot holders, so I’ll probably keep making them,” Worm said.

Items in the store include fabric, thread, fat quarter bundles, 3 yard bundles, panels, precuts, patterns, batting, tools, apparel, and beyond.

For longarm work, Worm said she sees it as more as an art form that breathes life into the fabric rather than a service. Edge to edge design can be applied by her three machines, two on a 12 foot frame and one on an 8 foot frame. Up to an oversized king size can be accommodated and Worm prides herself on a two week turnaround.

The new building for in-person shopping at 202 Charles Street in Taylor is open Monday through Thursday from 10 AM to 5 PM, Friday 10 AM to 4 PM, and Saturdays 9 AM to 1 PM. Several items are also offered through an online store at StitchedByJessiRose.com.
