4. This is blatantly false. In fact it’s an open question whether nuclear winter as a concept has any validity at all. This is not hard to find in the literature. Most articles like these are written by people with an agenda, typically nuclear disarmament which of course would make the world immeasurably less safe.

5. There’s 1.7B between india and Pakistan and 350 warheads in the combatants’ arsenal, drop in the bucket compared to Russian and US arsenal somewhere north of 10,000 combined. 

   Neither possess precision first trike capable delivery vehicles, both are classed as second strike deterrence, this is reflected in their arsenal size and nuclear weapons doctrine.

   However unlikely, a nuclear exchange will kill sizable portion of combatants population directly through war dead and cascading systems collapse of both country’s institutional, transport, communications, sanitation infrastructure. Nuclear climate science is poorly understood despite claims made in the article, it is a distant and unnecessary argument against a conflict that will kill billions directly.
