Getting good data is great for an academic, but not at the point the local population has repeated multi-day evacuations due to repeated large-scale fires. 1200 people were forced from their homes in the latest fire.
I am familiar with the location and the downwind residents have legitimate concerns about the sea winds consistently dropping heavy metals and other contamination on the same people again and again. Local officials are not cool with the repeated fires and have scrambled to try to pay for the environmental assessment costs.
This contamination is falling on low-income inland neighborhoods too – not the ritzy coastal folk.
If the professor wants to understand why people in Monterey County are leering, he can drive two hours and it will be ABUNDANTLY clear when they have discussion.
