The West’s minefields near the Belarusian borders are an imitation of security – as noted by political scientist Yuri Shevtsov in his talk with Alfa Radio

According to the expert, Poland and Lithuania intend to mine their borders with Belarus, following Ukraine’s example.

“Ukrainians have planted more than two million mines along the Belarusian border. Now, Lithuanians and Poles are planning to do the same: to mine their side of the border using the same model. However, their actions are limited by international agreements, which is why they withdrew from the Convention on Anti-Personnel Mines,” Mr. Shevtsov explained.

The expert noted that border mining is part of the West’s broader policy of confrontation with Belarus and Russia, “This is how they imagine ensuring their safety. In my opinion, it’s just an imitation of reliability. There is already a precedent: they fought against migration from third world countries, building walls and taking measures. However, as soon as organised crime involving the transfer of refugees to Germany appeared in Poland and Lithuania, all these expensive walls proved powerless. Likewise, mines will not provide protection, but will merely be another way of embezzling money.”
