Leader of the Catholic Church affirms Catholic doctrine. Shocking.
As long as he keeps pushing on the helping poor people and climate change fronts that’ll be good enough for me.
I don’t know why people suddenly are surprised that leaders of conservative religious institutions affirm conservative religious instruction ideals. Maybe it’s because people expect Catholics to be liberal?

>Pope Leo XIV affirmed Friday that the family is founded on the “stable union between a man and a woman,”
Anyone taking advice regarding family or relationships from the most famous celibate in the world is a moron
Asking the catholic institution to change their opinions on this matter would be asking them to change their doctrine fundamentally. And if you do that then there’s no Catholicism left.
Religions that assert an objective moral compass will be incompatible with certain changes in the social and cultural landscape if the changes are at direct odds with said moral compass. Otherwise, if they do decide to change, then they can no longer claim objectivity.
Catholics are conservative internationally , they just aren’t Supply Side Jesus . You can’t be a red blooded MAGA Catholic pope when you represent Catholics in Latin America, Asia and the Arab World .
So he’s sticking to established catholic doctrine, not a surprise though i would like the catholic church to broaden it to consenting loving adults. As long as he sticks to criticising systems that abuse the poor and impoverished, calling out imperialist invasions (which already is an improvement over before) and making sure the ball doesn’t roll back on the social progress made by his predecessor that would make him a worthy pope in my eyes.
This isn’t really shocking. I’d honestly be surprised if he suddenly went the other way. Ultimately, the Vatican also has politics and the conclave would never agree to let a radical lead. He seems like a compromise between the old guard and more progressive elements of the church. Focus on doing good in the world without upsetting the internal status quo
I’m totally fine with Catholics having their beliefs. They should never be forced into an abortion and as long as they don’t involve anyone else their queer folks can stay in their closet- if that’s their choice.
Just don’t pretend your morals are MY morals, nor try to make them law.
Expecting woke pope is like expecting Joe Rogan to do critical thinking. It’s not what they get paid for and it’s not what most of their community want from them.
