How does this work then, what was the point of the court case, and what was the “victory”?
Erika Jayne would’ve not survived this
Boooooo
Thank god for that – I live next to brockwell park and the number of people moaning to the security at the build site is staggering, as if they have any sway over things.
I’m sure there is more of a balance to be struck, but I consider this a victory for London’s culture and music scene!
Finally some good news
While I don’t think this weekend’s events should be cancelled at the last minute – considering how economically damaging it would be for all invested parties (especially the council). I’d question whether Mighty Hoopla which is more than a month away, should. There should be some sense of justice here and the there should be safeguards against future violation.
At least someone should get thrown out of the council.
Great news
NIMBYs can’t handle any young people having fun in a park. They want us all to be miserable
They have been using parks for festivals since the advent of civilitation, what do these people think they can do? Is not their premises.
Tell the dwellers near Clapham Common about festivals, tell the ones by Vicky Park, Finsbury Park etc…
To change the way society functions by just some little Individuals is something that aint going to happen
Yeah so fuck you locals you’re just here to pay tax
‘Culturally significant’ bro gimme a fucking break
Is there a map of areas in the park that will stay open to the public?
Culturally illiterate thinking they are culturally significant.
Good! I hope that pisses off Mark Rylance.
Absolute numpty.
The gays have been granted a second sigh of relief this week.
I think this is the best possible outcome. We don’t want festivals to be cancelled but equally we don’t want festival organisers to feel they can do as they please without ramifications.
My hope is this acts as a shot across the bows to the Brockwell Live group so that they are conscientious of the impact of their events.
Wonderful news. Tired of NIMBYs ruining the city.
Having lived right next to the park for a long time and seen these festivals grow – I would concurr with the view here that getting them cancelled is an unrealistic waste of time, but there are a lot of issues.
They fill up the park for ages – and during kids half term.
They destroyed the grass last year and had a long term effect.
It feels like there is nothing back in return for the noise and chaos. Free ticket ballot doesn’t work, the bounce festival was awful the one year it ran and cancelled the next, and it’s a lie you need to have the gate to run the country show.
No problem with the events, but really should not run as long.
