  1. Yeah, all the trailers explained nothing about the movie, and all around just looked bad.

  2. Yeah, he’s a great musician but he’s not an actor, and it’s painfully obvious

  3. I kiiiiind of enjoyed The Idol for just how ridiculous it was, but I can’t be bothered to see this over Friendship or Final Destination.

  4. It was so bad 😭 I’m glad I have a list at AMC so I didn’t have to pay full price to see this lol

  5. Jenna needs to do more lesbian kissing scenes.

    it’s good for her career.

  6. Had no idea this existed. Guess myself and no one else is the audience.

  7. Barry Keoghan is also in this movie. Abel collabed with rising stars of 2024 only to drag them down like this. Shame.

  8. If anyone had the utter misfortune to watch The Idol you’d understand why any right minded human would avoid anything with him in it like the plague.

  9. from what little I’ve seen, Jenna was fucking carrying hard.

  10. I didn’t see a single ad for this and didn’t know it was released or what it was about. Also, was this article written by AI?

  11. Literally the first time I’ve heard of this movie. Wow they’ve done a rotten job promoting it.

  12. This post is the first time I’m hearing about the existence of this movie

  13. I expected nothing less. The album is good, though. I’ve been playing São Paulo, The Abyss, and Timeless on a loop for the last little while.

  14. The film looked visually interesting but I had no desire to see this especially after his awful interference in “the idol”.

  15. Abel’s egomania is too big for someone who’s hardly all that talented. Yeah, sure, good voice but so many male singers out there who can sing circles around him and don’t act like they’re the 2nd coming of Prince.

  16. Does he also use Jenna as a sec object in this one? The Idol was terrible

  17. Finishing 6th in your opening weeknd isn’t bad. Hardly a flop.

  18. Weeknd is a popular singer and seems to be a big movie fan as well. (Gave the truly forgotten Scorsese 80s gem color of money a shoutout)

But that video on social media of him in a scene with Jenna Ortega emoting (acting) with his high pitched nagging voice (with canned unintentional laughter from the audience) is a sign: if he really wants to cross over to movies, he needs more acting lessons or he should just stick to being behind the scenes.

  19. I didn’t even know what this was, it looked stupid anyway

  20. I heard about this last week on the radio and completely forgot to look up a trailer or anything. I was actually kind of intrigued, and hoping it would be better than that mess The Idol is.

  21. Whoever convinced him to keep acting after The Idol needs to be fired, actually whoever convinced him he could act should be fired

  22. the first time I saw this advertised was for sinners.

And by that point, I’ve already probably used my allotted theater visitations. Fantastic 4/Thunderbolts are possibly one of the next few. Not to mention there’s also Mission Impossible and the Accountant 2. There is no way this was going to fan out well if I just heard about it.

  23. No marketing on this if no one knew. Marketing has to be nearly 40% of any entertainment budget for a successful release.

  24. Jenna Ortega been flopping since she turned down Wednesday season 2. Seems like a sign to call up Netflix.

  25. I saw this on IMDB and legit thought they were just advertising a music video. TDIL it’s actually a movie. Who keeps paying The Weeknd to act?

  26. The clips I saw the Weekend was atrocious. Poor Jenna had no hope with him.

  27. Didn’t even know this was a thing until right now

  28. TIL it’s spelled Weeknd and not Weekend. How did I never realize that 🤦‍♀️

  29. my understanding was that this was a jukebox musical to showcase his latest album. as such the whole thing is an expensive ad. who would pay to watch that in a theatre?

  30. If she’s smart her team is throwing everyone under the bus right now.

This failure is and should be entirely on Weeknd’s shoulders.

  31. You learn something new every day. Like this movie exists.

  32. “broader creative ecosystem”. Pretentious windbags sure like making up new phrases.

  33. Must be a Hollywood circlejerk thing that he keeps getting these things
