  1. Since covid things have gone to the dogs. I couldn’t imagine a marriage equality panel discussion needed to have the venue changed due to threats pre covid

  2. Why would a bunch of virgins care so much about marriage?

  3. I for one cannot believe that the far right – a movement whose leadership is dominated by drug dealers, arsonists, and sex criminals – would threaten violence.

  4. So are they having it at a secret venue then? It’s ridiculous that this is necessary. They should be able to rely on the gardai to prevent any issues

  5. Make fascists afraid again.

I really look forward to when these cunts are afraid to open their mouths.

  6. 10 years of equality and a venue had to change due to threats.

That’s not exactly progress and is giving into them, emboldening them to pull the same stunts for the next panel or discussion.

  7. This is also a pretty shit poster as it’s very ambiguous.

    “Marriage Equality – What’s next?”

I don’t know if you support marriage equality or not from that statement.

  8. This is the fruits of the “softly softly” approach the authorities have used with these so called far right thugs. If they cracked a few skulls early on this wouldn’t be an issue.

Imagine if it were students or a far left protest, the guards would be foaming at the mouth dying to get stuck in.

  9. I’m not defending any side here, but this seems performative without solid context. We are being asked to accept there was a credible threat, but no detail is offered beyond “trust us.”?

Meanwhile, Labour had no issue showing up to O’Connell Street amid a much tenser anti-immigration protest, where real confrontations were a known risk and they were heavily outnumbered too.

So what’s different this time? Either the risk is dramatically higher, which needs to be actually explained, or this is more about optics than safety.

  10. The This Is Dublin fella on IG was posting about the protest. It’s cunts like him that led to the postponement. I live in Dublin 8 and there is definitely a campaign to intimidate people and force their anti immigration rhetoric on residents in Dublin 8. On Friday evening there were kids handing out fliers and dropping them into houses promoting this racist crap. Also the local Labour councillor is getting targeted a lot online and from what I can see is that they are going to harass him everywhere he goes. And with this crowd I’d say there is a credible threat to his safety

  11. I’m not at all surprised the far right is targeting a Pride event — their homophobia is well-documented. But what’s really telling in this case is who they’re going after. Instead of holding the actual parties in power accountable — the ones implementing the policies they claim to be ‘concerned citizens’ about — they’re going after a left-wing party that isn’t even in government. That tells you everything. Their goal isn’t to improve anyone’s life or challenge the status quo. It’s to fracture solidarity, not build it. They aren’t class-conscious — they’re opportunists using culture war tactics to divide people who should be on the same side

  12. Oh look, the concerned citizens are taking a break from being concerned about the colour of someone’s skin, to be concerned about who people marry!

They’re awfully concerned, those concerned citizens.

  13. Why aren’t far right going to Kerry ti help stop irish farmers being killed from other Irish people?

It’s like they don’t really care about the irish instead just fueled by their own hate

  14. I am a gay Limerick man and I live with my partner for 20 years. In short if I met one of the so called right I would gladly drive him into next week with a thump in the face. I have no problem with violence towards fascists. I am not some kind of fool that will sit by meekly while I get insulted or assaulted I kick back as good as I get with double and my advice to any gay person is give as good as you get.

  15. So you gave into the domestic terrorist, so now they’ll just follow you around doing it again, & doing it to others so they think they’ll win

You have the event as normal, & if the far-right Fuckheads wish to protest, that’s fine, but they’ll be met by twice as many who are there to break their knees

  16. “Threat of protest”

Has there ever been a weaker excuse for doing anything?
