Ukraine seems to be dropping tons of GBU 39 and Hammers lately.
It is a very satisfying sign that Ukraine is able to strike such bases behind the frontlines. There’s not much talk about downed MiG-29 or SU-27, not even in the pro-Russian channels. There’s not enough air defense left and now they get levelled.
After destroying so much of Russia’s air defense, this shouldn’t come as a surprise, especially if these bombs can be dropped from behind Ukrainian lines, limiting exposure to any kind of SAM system.
Impressive accuracy. It doesn’t look like a big explosion, can someone tell me a bit more about the payload or how strong these things are?
Most of the videos I’ve seen of GBU launches/releases show two per plane. Can they in fact carry four, or was this a two-plane strike?
