  5. I mean it’s satire but it’s not wrong. As Sunak’s wife her affairs shouldn’t be under scrutiny, she wasn’t elected. However as a member of society she can certainly be criticised for using something that’s unethical.

  11. I wasn’t totally clued in on the Jimmy Carr thing, how involved he was, etc. Could just be an accountant vaguely ran it by him, didn’t tell him, or he actively sought it out, whatever.

    But so many people do it, why was it news when it was him?! Just off the top of my head, Take That!, some of the high paid actors from Mrs Brown’s Boys, David Cameron, now Sunak… why are they not big news?! ESPECIALLY politicians, who could close the loopholes, but don’t… because they use them

  13. Last time I checked Jimmy Carr isn’t a politician either, so why were his tax issues reported for everyone to see?

    It’s good that he was as it shows regardless of your stature, you aren’t immune. Of all the walks of life, politicians should be heavily scrutinised. Especially the fucker who handles the finances of the fucking country.

    If my wife writes the rules, can we get free beer allowances every day of the week for anyone on sub £60k a year? Plus free childcare, and ice cream for everyone in the country on a Saturday, May through to September.

  19. LPT: If you are immorally avoiding tax, try to discourage your spouse from becoming chancellor of the exchequer. Much harder to hide your shady dealings when the public spotlight is pointed that close to you.

  21. she’s his wife, not some neighbour, she needs to have the same level of scrutiny. It’s not like they’re not ‘washing the dishes’ together.
