  1. > “He keeps in touch. He’s a great guy,” says Stine, 81, of Black, 55. “We worked well together, and we just had a great time.”

    > The author says he was recently in Laguna Hills, California, giving a talk at a library in town. And while Black wasn’t in attendance, “He sent a note over, saying he wished he could be there, and he’s just wonderful,” Stine says.

  2. Dude is just the male Dolly. Absolutely wholesome and treats everyone with kindness.

  3. When I was in elementary school Stine came by (early 90’s, I didn’t know who he was) and did a reading and gave us all books. I mostly remember the mole. But the book was about a kid who could turn into a monster by turning a ring around, if he did it three times he was stuck I think. It might be one of the reasons I turned to horror, now that I think about it.

  4. RL stine was my first favorite author. I wrote him a fan letter as a 5 year old.

Never heard back from him though.

  5. I met Jack Black and Kyle Glass as a high schooler after a Tenacious D concert in Chicago, maybe ~2002?

I bought tickets early enough that we qualified for a free signing after the show, but, again, as a high schooler in the early 2000’s, I got driven there by my parents, who were then calling my cell phone which died.

So I was in line getting my backstage pass, Wayne’s World style, signed by Jack and Kyle, when somehow my very heavily-tattooed brother who drives a tow truck comes running up like (since JB was not yet ultra-famous), “bro, mom and dad are pissed!”

Jack took one look at both of us, my brother obviously out of nowhere, and was like, “you two are pretty fucking awesome,” and signed not only my pass, but probably some random shit that my brother had.

Still have the signed pass. Jack Black absolutely deserves to go down in history as one of the nicest, most genuine celebrities.

  6. The day I hear anything scandalous about JB is the day I officially give up on humanity

  7. Nice cool friendship between cool guys, great news. I’d rather hear more of this than what we typically hear today

  8. I met him when he came to my college to check his son in at the private dorm I worked at. Couldn’t be nicer. All the mail to his kid came in goosebumps branded envelopes
