Vancouver mom wants answers after son comes home in different clothes

These were the underwear that I sent him in. As you can see, they’re completely clean. Jasmine Barona sent her six-year-old son to school in this outfit. He came home in this clothes she’s never seen before, right down to new underwear he apparently didn’t put on himself. I’m like, “Where did you get these clothes?” And he said, “An adult.” He said, “A man took me to the basement and changed him in a closet.” I immediately tried to hold my cool. Barona’s son is indigenous and on the autism spectrum. The family called the school and met with the principal the next day. Barona says she was told a substitute education assistant was working that day, but the principal couldn’t offer any more details. I want you to tell me who was in the basement with my child. That’s it. That’s all I want. And I if something did go further than what we’re assuming, then I want justice. A week later, she still doesn’t know exactly what happened or why someone would swap her child’s clothes. Vancouver police have confirmed they are working with the school board, and the board tells CTV an employee has now been placed on leave. Barona says she won’t be sending her son back here until she can get an answer to what she feels is a pretty simple

A Vancouver mother is demanding answers after her six-year-old neurodivergent son came home from school Wednesday in a different outfit than the one he wore that morning.

  1. Bro coworkers used to pull crap like this cause they thought the clothes were too feminine. I hope nothing else happened to thar kid

  2. did she try asking the child what REALLY happened? Did he just get his clothes muddy and the staff changed him and cleaned them or did he just swap clothes with a different kid for fun.

  3. I would not take him back to that school. And I know finding a school to support his needs. Or home schooling is not always an option, but I would definitely not send him back there..❤

  4. Crazy to think even the principal wouldn't help. Makes me wonder if he or she knew and has the power to shoo them away if they asked questions because he is a authority figure there.

  5. So they were able to have a conversation with the substitute teacher to place them on leave….But they didnt bother to ask why he was in a basement closet with a student changing all their clothes?!?! Yeah…ok. Straight to the police, file charges. Having no answer is so beyond insane…

  6. Horrifying!! I work in childcare in Australia and we only change a child’s clothes if they are wet or soiled, we only assist them in changing if they are unable to change themselves, and it is always done in the general bathroom area where there is pretty much zero privacy

  7. Crazy- as a child care worker changing children is not new especially if they have autism; but the fact no one TOLD you why he was changed is crazy. Communication is the main thing.

  8. I hope you get the answers and if needed, justice you deserve. Our children should be safe at school. Someone taking advantage of any child deserves more than I can put into words.
