  1. What was said:

    > “The Israeli government’s denial of essential humanitarian assistance to the civilian population is unacceptable and risks breaching international humanitarian law,” a joint statement released by the prime minister’s office said.

    > “We oppose any attempt to expand settlements in the West Bank…. We will not hesitate to take further action, including targeted sanctions.”

  2. Judging by how they handled Russia’s aggression, Israel shouldnt be worried

  3. So what happens when Israel stops and Hamas doesn’t release the hostages? Will these countries go into Gaza and get them out?

  4. The small and less powerful democracies of the world are in great danger. The US and EU are abandoning them in the face of aggression from Russia and Islamic extremists, and soon China and NK will start their own wars of aggression against democracies. Taiwan and South Korea need to prepare to defend themselves by themselves. The US and EU are unlikely to provide much help and in fact will be doing quite a lot to hinder their defense. Just look at how the US is abandoning Ukraine and Europe is abandoning Israel. Small democracies are on their own now.

  5. What’s the Canadian, British, and French plan to get aid to civilians while also denying it to Hamas?

  6. The fuck is Canada going to do? Issue a strongly worded statement?

  7. Great solution. Why don’t they just threaten Hamas to release hostages — isn’t 600 days of starvation and torture enough?

  8. All joking aside (and no/one should be joking about this), what Israel is doing is awful. And I’m a Jew.

  9. Fuck all three of them. Hypocrites. Israel doesn’t need their BS.

  10. Same response no matter what Israel does, apparently. Blockade – condemnation. Limited strikes – condemnation. Full invasion – condemnation.

At some point, if the international response is condemnation no matter what, it ceases to be all that relevant.

  11. This conflict is like an old wound that foreign intervention keeps reopening.

  12. Are they going to go in there themselves and get the terrorists?

  13. Please, instead of more saber rattling, open your borders to them and provide housing and safety for them away from Israel.

  14. No negotiations with terrorists.

Why is the world not putting pressure on Hamas to lay down their weapons. The Palestinian people need to throw off the shackles of Hamas and rejoin civilized society.

  15. Oh shit. They’re going to get ready to start discussing to prepare a strongly worded warning!

  16. Once the extent of 10/7 became clear, it seemed pretty obvious that this was never going to end in anything other than Gaza being completely reoccupied, and probably for the foreseeable future.

Israel is completely capable of occupying Gaza indefinitely. They occupied it for nearly 40 years from 1967-2005. For 15 of those years (1967-1982) they occupied the entire Sinai Peninsula in addition to Gaza and the West Bank. For 18 of those years (1982-2000) they were occupying Southern Lebanon in addition to Gaza and the West Bank. During the occupation of Gaza, Israel had capacity to fight the War of Attrition from 1967-1970, the Yom Kipper War in 1973, 1978 and 1982 in southern Lebanon, and deal with the First and Second Intifadas.

People keep saying that Isreal couldn’t possibly bare the burden of occupying Gaza indefinitely, but they absolutely can. It may be a strain on the IDF to occupy Gaza, but we’re not looking at the same logistical complexity and political pressures as the US occupations in Iraq or Afghanistan. Isreal will just rotate regular and reserve units in and out, take the occasional casualty, and carry on as it did for nearly half of its existence.

  17. Time for the rest of the western world to take more prominent leadership roles.

The US is having their little meltdown right now.
